We were originally going to be staying at the Chateau Dupre hotel in the French Quarter. I called ahead and verified that the front desk had, and would hold a non-smoking room for us. We got there and they'd given away all the non-smoking rooms.
They put us in the French Market Inn, which is a few blocks closer to Jackson Square, so we're not complaining (too much). It appears from our initial experience, that the French Market Inn has lots of atmosphere, but lacks such things as hot water, hair dryers, ice machines, wireless internet signal in the room (as promised)(as they charged us for). The safe in the room doesn't work either.
There's art in the lobby though.
